The Challenge

Plagued by the impacts of COVID-19 and its ongoing effects on events across the globe, the Emergence Creative Festival was determined to resurrect itself in 2024.

Fuelled by a passionate group of individuals and the energy of the Creative Corner, thebox, along with its network of EUSO Digital, bureau42 & Panda Candy, partnered with the Festival to assist in bringing it back to life.

The Idea

2023 saw AI take the world by storm and while early predictions placed bets on it focusing around typically ‘blue collar’ jobs, it was clear early in the evolution that it was poised to change the face of the creative industry first and fast.

From ChatGPT to MidJourney, suddenly the industry was faced with a new challenge. We leant into this by developing a new creative stylisation for the Festival that was heavily aided by AI art. It was a deliberate poking of the bear and gained attention from the word go.

This led to the creation of a highly creative and innovative website which set the tone for the festival and its theme – Time to Make Space.

The Solution

But creating the new style wasn’t enough. We knew there was more we could do to really add value to the Festival and create a buzz. So Creative Glue was born. A PodCast show focused on the bonds that bring creatives together and the ingredients that make those bonds stick.

Featuring a custom written track from Panda Candy, the PodCast opening set the tone for what was to come. Launched as an Emergence Special series, we interviewed past ‘Aslumni’ of the Festival to gain insights into the impact that Emergence had on their careers and their lives. Each episode exposed the deep rooted effects that the Festival had on each individual. It was powerful and raw.

This continued with the capturing of VoxPops across the Festival which were produced into a Daily WrapUp and a final WrapUp Pod to showcase the event.

The Last Word

This was a partnership in the truest sense of the word. With the investment of hundreds of head hours across 6 months in the lead up to the Festival, 12 crafted episodes capturing over 11 hours of interviews, and hailed as a highly successful return of the event, thebox is proud to have been at the heart of the Creative Partnership which brought to life a special part of the fabric in the Creative Community.
