In an attempt to fight back, the Canadian Institute of Diversity and Inclusion has made a dig at Russia’s Vladimir Putin and his country’s stance on gay rights by turning it right back to the Sochi 2014 Olympics.

The television commercial has the tagline: “The Games have always been a little gay. Let’s fight to keep it that way”. The Canadian Insitute of Diversity and Inclusion works to foster more equal workplaces in Canada and shows its support for gay and lesbian athletes competing in the games, despite Russia’s stance.

Putin has drawn widespread criticism for his attitude towards gay rights and the anti-gay propaganda laws that exist which have dominated discussion surrounding the Winter Games.

The over-exaggerated pelvic thrust of two luge sledders was used to demonstrate the stance. Even Google got on board with a ‘gay’ display on the search engine homepage.
