It is human nature to want to get as much for your buck as you can. Sure I have the attitude that why would I pay x amount for something when for the same price I can get more? The answer is value.

Last week my husband and I were lucky enough to escape the cold wet weather we have been experiencing and escape to sunny Bali. For the flight home we chose to fly Air Asia because of the great prices they were offering. Part way through the flight I had a good look around the cabin and noticed that the Air Asia brand was EVERYWHERE. There were adverts on every single overhead baggage compartment, the backs of the fold-up tables had adverts on, the logo was embossed on every head rest, there were branded magazines and information cards in the seat pockets. My eyes were bombarded with red and I couldn’t look anywhere without seeing the brand!
Oh I know…I can hear you all cursing me for using that foul language in September but the fact is, Christmas is only just around the corner and NOW is the time to start putting together your wish list to ensure you get the most out of Santa this year.
In my more youthful days, I was accused by a friend of being too ‘deep’. On further enquiry I was given an example. She said, if I saw a beautiful tulip growing, I would want to dig it up to discover how it grew and why it performed so well. Rightly or wrongly, she was right. I am perhaps guilty of destroying something to discover the truth about it – it is the scientist in me.
A very wise man (who, fortunately for me, sits next to me every day) once said to me that staff shouldn’t wear a ‘uniform’, but a ‘costume’ for their daily ‘performance’; borrowed from Disneyland and their unique modus operandi. Let me ask you – do you and your staff wear a uniform, or a costume?
You don’t need a shovel and you won’t end up with a hole but Digging is just another way to add a further dimension to your blog…and thus we’ve done exactly that to ours!
Yet another item on the spring cleaning list that is often forgotten by organisations is how they look from the inside. What do employees see each day when they arrive? How have you created the space to be distinctively yours? The internal perspective of your organisation is important because it a) reinforces your organisation as a desirable place to work and is an important factor when recruiting new employees, b) reinforces your organisation’s positioning and branding and c) ensures your business culture is strong and felt at every level.
